Lifespan of lab mice extended by 20 years after remarkable discovery

Stem cells key to living longer, new research finds

Humans could live for hundreds of years — imagine that!

Researchers believe an area of the brain could help reverse or slow the ageing process.

“Ageing speed is controlled… can be controlled by a particular place in the body, which is the hypothalamus,” Dongsheng Cai from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York told VOA News.

“And it can be controlled by particular type of stem cells, which are hypothalamus stem cells.

“I think this finding is quite interesting [and] potentially remarkable.”

Cai’s team managed to increase the life span of lab mice by 20 years after this discovery.
